Episode 22 recap: Kang Yun Hai Investigates in Secret, A Shu Reveals Her Identity
In Episode 22, Wang Kun Wu directly tells Yu Chi Hua that he has feelings for her, but he's too focused on revenge to pursue a romance. Yu Chi Hua disagrees, believing that vengeance and love are not mutually exclusive. In fact, she offers to help him deal with the mysterious white-clad figure. Wang Kun Wu, feeling conflicted, advises Yu Chi Hua not to waste her emotions on someone dangerous and suggests she find someone truly worthy of her trust.
Meanwhile, An Xiu Yi listens quietly and devises a plan. He secretly books the best terrace table at the Drunken Immortal Restaurant for a dinner with Yu Chi Hua, hoping to confess his feelings. The next morning, Yu Chi Hua rushes to Wang Kun Wu, cleaning up and ensuring her safety, leaving him both amused and exasperated.
Finally gathering his courage, An Xiu Yi expresses his feelings at dinner. Yu Chi Hua laughs, reminding him that they grew up as childhood friends, not lovers. Undeterred, An Xiu Yi talks about compatibility and understanding. Yu Chi Hua playfully suggests they share a hug and kiss to see if there's any chemistry. When they try, it becomes awkward, and Yu Chi Hua mocks him for pretending to be mature and not understanding true love.
On another front, the white-clad figure sneaks into the Yan Le Pavilion to inform Kang Yun Hai that A Shu is the person Long Tu Qi is looking for. Kang Yun Hai is skeptical, especially after previously failing to save Xiao E. However, the white-clad figure produces a confidential letter from Long Tu Qi, leaving Kang Yun Hai no choice but to believe him and decide to investigate immediately.
Meanwhile, after breakfast with Yuan Mo, A Shu plans to go shopping but is spotted by Kang Yun Hai's men. At a shoe shop, the overly enthusiastic shop owner insists on changing A Shu's shoes. Sensing something is off, A Shu makes an excuse to leave.
Just then, Yuan Mo arrives with officials to check the household registration, allowing A Shu to slip away. That evening, Yuan Mo offers to wash A Shu's feet, but she firmly declines, stating that a woman should not easily reveal her feet. The next day, Yuan Mo returns to the shoe shop, only to find the owner has changed and learns it was closed the previous day.
Connecting the dots, Yuan Mo suspects that both the Yan Le Pavilion and the white-clad figure are searching for A Shu. He shares his suspicions with Wang Kun Wu, and they decide to confront someone from the Yan Le Pavilion for answers. Yu Chi Hua suggests a less-than-honorable method: tracking down Ma Zhi Wen for clues.
They bribe a fortune teller that Ma Zhi Wen frequently visits, and sure enough, when Ma Zhi Wen inquires about A Shu's identity, the fortune teller's advice convinces him, leading him to leave money for luck.
Afterward, Wang Kun Wu instructs Yuan Mo to keep an eye on A Shu's ankle for a butterfly tattoo and considers reporting the matter to Yu De Shui. Back at home, Yuan Mo and A Shu share a heartfelt conversation, during which A Shu, fueled by alcohol, reveals her identity as the Princess of Yan Le and expresses her fears of being hunted by the white-clad figure. She decides she can no longer involve Yuan Mo in her troubles.
Upon learning A Shu's true identity, Yu De Shui immediately informs An Yuan Dao, insisting on taking all necessary measures to protect her, using her as leverage against Long Tu Qi to ensure he thinks twice before acting rashly.
A hidden struggle surrounding A Shu's identity is quietly brewing among various forces.
